View from South Parks

South Parks is down St. Clement's Street and hosts what is probably one of the only hills in central oxford. It's a big park close to the Oxford Brookes campus where we often do our Saturday morning sessions as it is a hilly grass venue. We meet at the tree in the centre of the park. Aside from its use for our training ground, it's a popular place for sunset picnics, dog walking and yoga with a great view from the top of the hill overlooking the cityscape.

Pros:

  • Great view of Oxford cityscape
  • Lots of trees- they break up the park and make it more interesting as well as giving some shady running spots on a hot day
  • Hill training- if that's what you're into…

Cons:

  • Bit of a trek from the centre (but you can use the jog as your warm up or bike there to make it faster)
  • Its hilly and deceivingly steep- but I guess it'll give us the upper hand at varsity so take it as a plus
  • Sometimes dog walkers can get in the way but doesn't happen a lot
