The British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Cross Country Championships is the highlight of Hilary Term for the Club - a chance for OUCCC to apply all the hard work and training to competition against other universities.

Brief BUCS History
The first University Cross Country Championships, replacing the National Universities Championships, were held in Nottingham in 1964, then organised by the British Universities Sports Federation (BUSF) - as a Men's only race, with the first Women's race held in 1973. These races were for University students only with Polytechnics and Higher Education Colleges excluded until 1991. The A Race, also known as 'Long Race', has been combined with the Gentlemen's B Race since ... and the Women's B Race since Edinburgh 2020. 'Short Races' have also been included at times, mainly in the early 2000s but were not scored in a team aspect.
